Introduction:
I’m working on the introduction to my book. Here is an excerpt:
I wish I could tell you that I’m some world-renown expert on love, sex, and relationships. I’m not. I was a dateless wonder in high school. College was a little better, but not much. I’ve experienced breakups, rejection, blind dates (a few of which made me wish I was blind), and all that other “fun” stuff that comes with being single. At age 35, I’m still searching for a lifetime partner. I struggle with lust, loneliness, and all the other trials that come with being a single man. I’ve come to dread those last few embarrassing moments of a wedding reception (I usually leave early, before someone can throw a garter at me).
Don’t worry—this is not a guidebook on how to stay single until you are 35. It is not a book about the “gift of singleness.” I’m just letting you know that I can relate to many of your struggles as a single person.
Single or not, life is still great! The past five years, in fact, have been one of the most enjoyable seasons of my life. Allow me to share how I ended up in Manila and why I wrote this book.From America to the Philippines
I committed my life to God at a fairly young age. I knew I wanted to be a minister before I graduated high school. College was an incredible time of spiritual growth for me—it made me want to become a campus minister myself.
