I. Making Wise Decisions–Introduction

If you are a student, you are in a transitional period of your life. This means that you will experience many changes in a short period of time. Many of you, for example, will graduate within a few years. You will leave your studies behind and enter the working work (trust me, that is a drastic change).

There’s something else you should understand about being a teenager or young adult. This is the time when you will make some of the most important decisions of your life. Many of these decisions will affect you for the rest of your life. Choose wisely!

This is what excites me about student ministry. A student minister has the opporutunity to influence people during a critical time in their lives!

The Bible gives us a wonderful promise about our decisions. It is found in Proverbs:

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Isn’t it great to know that God wants to help us make decisions? He promises that He will guide us perfectly if we will trust Him completely.

Right now I’m preaching a series on making wise decisions. It will pretty much be impossible for me to write everything I say in the sermons. I’ll do my best, however, to give you some of the major points through this blog. For now I encourage you to memorize Proverbs 3:5-6. Think about this verse every day.
