About Me

My name is Kevin Sanders.  I am a Christian, husband, father, pastor, and caffeine addict.

Here’s a little bit of my background and the background of this blog:

I grew up in Pinson, Alabama (USA), a small town about 20 miles northeast of Birmingham. My Dad and many other family members still live there, so we go back and visit as often as time permits.

I grew up in a Christian home. I trusted Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was a child and surrendered my life to full-time ministry as a teenager.

I spent the first half of the 90’s finishing my bachelor’s degree. I spent the second half of the 90’s working as a substance abuse counselor while studying at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

I was a missionary in the Philippines from 2002-2013. Most people called me Kuya Kevin  when we lived there (“Kuya” is Filipino for “older brother”). I spent most of my years there doing college ministry in Manila.

One of my favorite pictures from the Manila years.

I started this blog during those college ministry years. God blessed me with the opportunity to write a couple of books based on some of the same topics I was writing about here (relationship issues). I don’t write about relationship issues as much as I used to, but I still regularly get visits to this website from those who are searching for advice regarding matters of the heart.

I eventually moved to Angeles City to help a friend plant a new church (2011). I met Mare Cris, my wife, within days of making this move. We married in 2012 and spent our first 16 months together in Angeles City.

We moved to the USA in 2013 and began our current ministry at Apollo Heights Baptist Church (El Paso, Texas) in 2016.

Mare Cris and I are the proud parents of a beautiful son.

God blessed me with the opportunity to go to Gateway Seminary a few years ago. It was an amazing experience and I’m grateful God gave me a chance to receive more training.

The older I get, the more I realize life is all about God’s grace. He has richly blessed me beyond anything I’ll ever deserve.
