Earlier this week I received news of a missionary who passed away. Dr. Posey was a friend of my family. He grew up in my home town and faithfully served the Lord here in the Philippines:
Dr. Jesse Earl Posey, age 81. Raised in Pinson, AL, current resident of Mobile, AL died Monday, March 9, 2009 at the family residence after a long complicated illness and finally Liver Cancer. Dr. Posey and his wife Mamie Lou served 33 years with the International Mission Board SBC, in the Philippines.
Sorry to hear. Condolence.
Great reward and joy lies on the other side of faithful service 😀
how’s your friend by the way? the one who had surgery, and has yet to post another article in his blog..
God bless Him, oh and you too 🙂
We’re glad that another Pinsonian is onboard.
God bless…-w
Hey Anonymous…the fact of the matter is that I am an undisciplined “blog flake.” But there is a bit more to it than that.
I have healed up quite nicely from the surgery and been out doing things I haven’t been able to in years. But in a strange twist, I was also diagnosed in the midst of recovery with chronic migraine…we are now effectively treating this, but it was something that plagued me for some time and served as another distraction from blogging (if you can imagine how a 24-hour headache for 16 straight days might do that).
But the biggest thing is that “life” kind of took off recently. I have been extremely involved with my church in various capacities and have ministry related activities almost every night of the week. In addition, I have to keep up with my studies. Just the simple posts you see on my blog today might be considered and edited for a few hours, so with all the other business of life, the blog has taken a seat at the very back of the bus. I don’t really have a few spare hours on ANY day of the week right now.
But I could be a bit more conscientious about it. I suppose, at the end of the day, I don’t really view anything I have to say as terribly impressive and don’t really think about blog updates as being anything anyone out there is particularly waiting for. So its something easy to forget.
SM, 🙂
(thats actually an acronym for shopping malls in Manila)
“..you can imagine how a 24-hour headache for 16 straight days might do that.”- sorry ’bout that.
