Celebrities and Photoshop "Beauty"

Erwin and I discussed teen magazines in one of our recent podcast episodes.  I reminded our female audience members not to compare themselves to American celebrities (see also: Brown is Beautiful).

Here’s something you may not know:  most celebrities only release edited (retouched) photos to the public.  I didn’t realize just how common the practice is before I watched this video.

There are similar examples here in the Philippines.

Just remember that much of what you see in magazines is an illusion.

  1. They do that here too, alter photos in magazines.

There’s nothing like a beautiful soul, that, you can never fake and wouldn’t have to.

  2. more info about the deception of beauty at campaignforrealbeauty.com. That’s where I first realized how we have been deceived by these ads.

  3. I agreed with the nutritionist that many women ‘know’ but don’t really know while they’re looking at the magazines and so on. It’s kinda like head knowledge of the fact, but never becomes a lens through which we view what we see.

  4. Today was the first time I’ve seen and read your blog, how wonderful! I definitely agree. Beauty starts from the inside out and is found in our true identity, which is in Jesus Christ.
