Matthew Henry: Why Eve Came from a Rib

The woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved.

  1. I read it.

I love the way God’s place for Adam is described. And the way Eve is presented as an equal and of same ranking, who can help and be needed equally. I like that.

    Very, very good read.

  2. one time in one of my classes, we talked about Lilith, which they said was not included in the bible.. and that she was the first woman in the Garden of Eden. could you explain more of this? thanks.
