Polio, Paralysis, and Perseverance: Thess’ Story

Last Thursday I packed some equipment in my backpack and headed for Resonate Worship. The backpack was heavy, but I didn’t even think about complaining. Why? I had just read Thess’ story. She contracted polio when she was a child–a disease which nearly took her life. She lost her ability to walk, but that hasn’t stopped her from glorifying God with her talents.

Read Thess’ story HERE (http://womenish-mystory.blogspot.com). Be inspired!

  1. I’m currently lying on a hospital bed, with two tubes hooked to my IV line. I’ve been here since Sunday night and I was getting rather frustrated that the doctors have yet to know what’s wrong with me. Then I read Thess’ story. Made me realize how fortunate I am. My sickness, whatever it is, I am positive it’s nothing to what she had. I am in no position to whine.

To Thess, I admire you. Really. I had undergone 3 major surgeries in the past (a hip operation at 13, a spine laminectomy/discectomy for slipped discs at 17, and an appendectomy at 22) and I know how difficult it must have been for you. It was for me but you, you were 8 and you lost your mobility. I couldn’t help but be amazed. Your story is such a testimony. God may have taken your legs but definitely not your fire. 🙂

    God bless you.

  2. I salute your parents, they did such a wonderful job bringing you up 😀

Praying for God’s favor in your life-beyond your expectation..God bless!

  3. Hi Thess!

I am so deeply touched by your story. Wish I’ve known you before the NPDR week. We featured some testi from successful PWD’s on Tanikalang Lagot (drama program).

Anyway, i hope we can still invite you for our future episodes. Thank you for sharing your story. Thanks to K. Kevin as well for making a link.

    You are a blessing!

Btw, in case you want to get in touch with me, you can ask from K. Kevin my contact info. I can’t (for some reason) post a message on your site.

    Lj 🙂

  4. I believe the greatest victories are won in the battles within.
May your story-His story become an encouragement and an example for our fellow men to fight and win in the battles of life..

How petty our excuses! how trivial! How lame!
    Thanks for opening up.
God keep you and your family..
