Yesterday (Thursday) I had the honor of speaking to the Luzon Convention of Southern Baptist Churches (LCSBC). Special thanks to Pastor June Apura (president) for allowing me to come and share. The hospitality I experienced was second to none.
Their theme was “Mobilizing Churches for Strategic Missions.” What a great theme!
My message included a challenge to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the youth of this nation and to prioritize youth ministry. Part of the message sounded something like this:
Do you want to see a missionary movement in the Philippines?
Reach the youth.
Do you want to see revival in the Philippines?
Reach the youth.
Do you want to see growing churches in this convention?
Reach the youth.
It is not just the Philippines that should heed this advice.
Hey Kevin,
I have a lot of contact with the Philippines, and a lot of my heart is IN the Philippines. God is blessing you with this mission, and what a cool thing when you will be able to see it play out! The youth there and here for that matter need to hear everything you have to share with them. What they decide to call “God” is not God in the least. I am, to be honest, jealous that you have this oppertunity while I am stuck here in Alaska recovering from Brain surgery! (Yet how cool that my ministry doesnt stop when my head was snapped opn eh?) But believe me, if and when God calls me to Philippines again, I am there in a heart beat. Now? My call is to pray for you, and pray I will. Teens are the hardest group to catch because they don’t know how to handle something to deep when you take the games away. I’ve been a mentor for a couple years and its been a hard one to watch them hurt so. But man! How cool and awesome to see God change their hearts right before our very eyes! Our God is an awesome God is he not?!! Talk to you later? God Bless
Cass
