I got some really sad news yesterday before I taught my Christian History class. One of my new friends had a stroke Sunday afternoon. I will not write his name because I don’t want to invade his privacy, but please pray for him (God knows his name).
This caused me to think about something. How thankful am I for my health? When is the last time I said “thank you” to God? Good health is a blessing from Him! Unfortunately, we usually don’t talk to God about our health unless there is a problem. We usually don’t appreciate our health until it is gone.
We should learn to be thankful for all of God’s gifts that we take for granted. Take some time today to thank God for your health.
James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Hey Kevin,
Thats a hard one to swallow. We have such a hard time taking time to say “thanks” for our health. Even when we don’t have good health. I mean, I have cerebral palsy (really bad motor skills disability) and I’ve had a 3 brain surgeries because of epilepsy to try and STOP the disease, annnd I still have the thing. But I still have good health, because I am walking in the Light of Christ. Its all in the perspective of whom your are serving and why you want to live. Your health is a hard thing to think about… especially when youre dealing with such a thing as a stroke, but the thing is, when you let it, it brings you closer to the Lord God Almighty. I will pray that that will be the thing that happens for your friend and that he sees just how awesome our God really is

Thanks for your input, Cass! What a great challenge to be thankful in all circumstances!
